I am delighted to announce that Swannington CE Primary has now formally become an Academy as part of the Oval Learning Trust. This was confirmed in a letter from the Secretary of State on 27th April 2017.
We now have the opportunity to use the freedoms and flexibilities of academy status to share best practice and work with others to bring about sustained improvements to all schools in the area.
We have been working with the Oval Learning Trust for a considerable time and have been in the privileged position of contributing to the formation alongside the founding members, Oakthorpe Primary, Albert Village Primary and Viscount Beaumont’s Primary.
Joining the trust will ensure the long term future of our school, brining financial stability and considerable benefits for the children, staff and wider community.
We are already involved in substantial school to school support, leadership development, character education and shared financial planning. All of these aspects are only the start of what will be high quality collaboration.
The Oval Learning Trust has been established to provide a strategic approach for closer partnership working and as a local solution for schools who share our core principles and see the value in this approach.
The Trustees have agreed on the following Core Principles, which are our underlying code for decision-making and policy creation.
Oval Learning Trust intends to carry out its work by ensuring:
- children’s learning & well-being is at the heart
- financial transparency, efficiency and effectiveness
- local solutions with moral purpose and integrity
- a strong belief in collaboration & partnership working
- openness, honesty, mutual respect and challenge
- respect for the individual ethos & character of schools
